Hey Beautiful Souls, 🌟
I wanna talk coffee today. Coz I love my coffee. I buy them 4 times a week, at least.
I take em dark n strong. AKA Long Black.
I have my favourite cafe spots in St Kilda, Melbourne. The baristas know what I take and know me by name. The cafes all have something kookie about them. One has mismatched vintage tables and chairs, one plays smooth jazz, one has a leafy outdoor area, and the last has a hole in the wall that makes it easy to be served with George (pups). Each has a charm that speaks to me.
Out of the 100’s of cafes I pass every day. Why am I loyal to these?
They serve a bloody good blend.
And they ooze my vibe, so I feel I belong.
Your Turn:
Picture this: You walk into your favourite coffee shop. Breathe in. There it is – that familiar aroma, the friendly banter, and that ever-so-welcoming vibe that wraps around you like a warm hug.
Well, folks, that’s exactly what a well-crafted brand voice does; it envelops your audience in a one-of-a-kind experience, making them feel right at home.
Alright, let's spill the coffee beans.
#sorrynotsorry for overusing the metaphor.
Brand Voice is your business's personality personified. It’s the consistent heartbeat in your messages, the vibe that resonates in every word, creating an unspoken bond with your tribe. Whether cheeky and vibrant or calm and reassuring, it’s unmistakably YOU.
Then enter the Tone of Voice – your brand voice's best mate. Picture it as the mood ring that reads the conversation, whether you’re celebrating a milestone with your community or addressing their pressing concerns. It’s fluid and adaptable but always in sync with your brand’s essence.
But what’s that look like in practice?
Tone Demo Time:
Check out how you can tweak the messaging and totally change how it lands on your client’s lap (hopefully not like a slosh of hot liquid).
Let’s use this simple example - "Can you help me with this?"
Inquisitive Tone:
"Do you think you might know how to handle this?"
Urgent Tone:
"I really need your help right now. Can you help?"
Playful Tone:
"Fancy giving me a hand with this little challenge?"
See? I’m all about the number 3 for my style. But you can be who you wanna be.
So what to do?
Play with your messaging - does your voice and tone suit your audience? Can you make it feel like more of a hug or a high-five?
Practice writing in a few tones that match your audience but make your words sound warmer, more fun, cheekier, or more serious… depending on what floats their boat.
In this bustling market space, your authentic voice and adaptable tone make you stand out, draw folks in, and make them go, “Yep, these are my people!”
So, lovelies, as you craft your brand narrative, remember it’s not just about what you say but how you say it.
Let’s bring a little more ‘you’ to the table, shall we? 💃
Mwah! 💋
