You know when you stumble upon a brand, and their words just sing to you?
Your eyes light up, you scroll and smile. Even guffaw a couple of times.
It’s like you've known them for years, shared a bottle of wine, and danced on the tables till dawn? 💃 Some of my longest friendships were started that way. 😉
That’s the power of a brand voice that's packed with energy and cheeky charm.
Your audience sees you in the crowd, wants more of you, and sticks close. Which, in the end, equals paying customers. Providing you’ve something fabulous to sell, of course.
But how do you do it?
Here are 7 tips to try out:
1. The cheeky chinwag: Ditch the formalities. Pretend you’re chatting with your BFF. Would you start with "Dear valued customer" or "Hey love"? Think of your brand as your fun, outgoing mate, not a stuffy boardroom exec.
2. Embrace idiosyncrasies: We all have quirky little sayings or favourite words. Maybe it's a "darling" here or a "bloody brilliant" there. Use them. They add flavour and make your voice unmistakably YOU.
3. Ask & answer: One fab way to keep things chatty is by posing questions in your copy, then answering them. "Wondering how our magic potion works? Let me spill the secrets!" It’s engaging and oh-so-inviting.
4. Exclamations & emojis – Why not? 🎉 If they fit your brand, use them! They're the digital equivalents of hand gestures, winks, and nudges. But remember, darling, moderation is key. 😉
5. Read aloud & revise: Once you've penned that piece, read it out loud. If it sounds like a chat over cocktails rather than a lecture, you're on the right track. If not, tweak until it does.
6. Dive into pop culture: Sprinkle in a dash of current slang or pop references. Just make sure it aligns with your brand and doesn’t alienate your core audience. No one wants to sound like they're trying too hard.
7. Play & experiment: The creative process is just that – a process. It’s taken me a while to switch hats from pro-teacher speak to copy-speak. Play around, experiment with different tones, styles, and words. Not every phrase will be a winner, and that's okay.
In the end, it’s all about letting your hair down and allowing your brand's inner diva to shine through.
Because, honey, in this vast market, authenticity and a little razzle-dazzle go a long way. 🌟
